The 2017 IRAD Conference will serve as the take-off point for the exchange of ideas and knowledge by creating the platform for stakeholder interaction for the development of the irrigated agriculture sub-sector. The arid and semi-arid areas of the world present a great opportunity for irrigated agriculture. The provision of water for irrigated agriculture like the Government of Ghana “one village, one dam” policy aims at contributing immensely to the achievement of food security and national prosperity. Small dams and dugouts for harvesting flood and rainwater greatly contributes to the achievement of SDG 1 (No Poverty) and SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) in the arid and semi-arid environments. IRAD conference therefore brings together practitioners, academics, policy makers, beneficiaries, farmers, irrigation consultants, technical experts, etc on the same platform to contribute to the sectors growth.
